150+ competitors came to iFly Colorado Springs for the US Indoor Skydiving Nationals. We ran media, streaming, logistics and safety.
The US Indoor Skydiving Nationals landed at iFly Colorado Springs, with more than 150 competitors flying in from across the country for a weekend of head-to-head rounds.
Gabriel covered the weekend on the media side: sound, live streaming and video, plus photos at the step-and-repeat and on the podium when the medals went on. Chelsey ran the weekend on the ground: registration, the day-of problem-solving a packed schedule always needs, safety, catering, and the staff planning that kept everyone in the right place at the right time. Between them, they also handled setup, teardown and testing before a single competitor flew.
The chamber turns into a genuine arena for a weekend like this: bib numbers, team colours, and a drinks barrel doing double duty as a podium riser. Competitors range from teenagers to seasoned pros, and the energy backstage is closer to a track meet than anything else we’ve covered.
What we loved
How much a niche sport can still feel like a national championship, medals and all.
